Rosetta Arts Centre
East London

At East London’s Rosetta Arts Centre, pre-GCSE children were shown Ribeiro’s maquettes, painted on old medicine boxes. Utilising recyclable objects, the aim was to not only instil in these young people an appreciation of their environment, but also a sense that anything could serve as a canvas to which they could apply a stylistic touch of their own. For one, it revealed an interest in Japanese manga art, another painstakingly applied dots of colour. Islamic-influenced floral designs appeared on a third.
